Joachim Horn is head of Pediatric Orthopaedics and associate professor at Oslo University Hospital. His key qualifications/clinical responsibilities are limb lengthening and reconstruction in children and adults, and rare bone diseases.

My presentation focuses on the natural history of achondroplasia and in which way physical function, psycho-social function and quality of life is affected. I will also discuss which measures, particularly those by pediatric orthopedic surgeons, should be taken during childhood and adolescence to prevent future complications of the disease and to achieve the best possible function and independence.
